Keynote Session: What Makes a Great Consultant
Speaker: Tom Mitchell (President Emeritus, University of Florida Foundation) Tom Mitchell, transformative leader, and fundraising expert, has left an indelible mark on the landscape of higher education fundraising during his university tenures, most notably as Vice President for Advancement at the University of Florida from 2010-2023. Michell is celebrated for steering UF through the most successful capital campaign in its history, the "Go Greater" campaign, which raised an unprecedented $4.6 billion. His strategic vision and adept leadership also played pivotal roles in the success of previous campaigns. Tom's diverse background and extensive contributions to the field have solidified his reputation as one of the preeminent figures in higher education fundraising.
Learn how to cultivate candor, build trust, and create an environment where open communication is valued. Tom draws on real-world experiences across hundreds of consultants he's hired in his career, offering strategies for evaluating

Fundraising with Emerging Donors: Primary Insights from an In-Depth Study
Speaker: Michael Moody, Ph.D. (Professor of Philanthropic Studies, Lilly Family School of Philanthropy)
This
session will summarize major findings and takeaways from the Johnson Center for Philanthropy and GivingUSA research project studying the adaptations of fundraising professionals to changes in how emerging types of major donors want to give
and engage. Based on detailed data from a survey of major donor fundraisers, and interviews with both fundraisers and donors, this study examines what is “new” about these donors and their approach to giving, what the primary challenges are
when engaging them, and shared recommendations for more effective fundraising. The research includes insights expressed by the donors themselves to both advance fundraising approaches and to illuminate the firsthand lessons of the major gift
development experience. The researchers will not only summarize their findings but will invite facilitated input and conversation about the study and its dissemination, to maximize the insights of member firms and key stakeholders.

Policies
Registrants assume full responsibility for notification to and verification of receipt by GI. All refunds will be processed 2-3 weeks after the meeting. Refunds on reception tickets will be refunded minus a $10 administrative fee if cancelled by February
15, 2024.
Refunds or credits will not be given for failure to attend, late arrival, flight/transportation cancellations, unattended events or early departure. In the rare event of a meeting cancellation, GI is not responsible for nor will provide refunds for costs
associated with travel, airfare, hotel or transportation costs incurred by the registered attendee. It is always recommended that the registrant considering purchasing independent travel insurance.
Giving Institute registration fees are not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution but may be deductible as a business expense. Consult your tax advisor.
